The Pasadena Community Orchestra is proud to announce this years Young Artist Competition Winner, Aubree Oliverson!
Sixteen year-old Aubree Oliverson has been called a “Modern Mozart” and we are thrilled to have her join us in a performance of Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole in D minor, Op. 21 on Friday, May 15th!

Aubree Oliverson, a 2016 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts and YoungArts National Finalist, is a multi-faceted performer and communicator. Winner of the American Protégé International Strings competition, Aubree made her solo debut with the Utah Symphony at age eleven, made her Carnegie Hall debut in Weill Recital Hall at age twelve, and at thirteen performed Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto in a return engagement with the Utah Symphony. Aubree has been featured on NPR’s From The Top four times, was a finalist in the Stulberg International Strings Competition, and recently performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. She has soloed with a wide variety of music ensembles including the Utah Chamber Artists, Salt Lake Pops Orchestra, San Fernando Valley Symphony, Topanga Canyon Symphony, Pasadena Orchestra, and the Millennial Choir & Orchestra, and was recently featured at the Innsbrook Academy & Festival in Missouri.
Passionate about reaching a wider audience, Aubree has traveled to over 100 schools throughout the Western United States, motivating and inspiring thousands of children to work hard and participate in music. Aubree was the concertmaster of the Gifted Music School Orchestra of Salt Lake City for two years, and recently graduated from the Colburn Academy in Los Angeles where she led the Academy Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra as concertmaster. Also a national award winning composer, Aubree was recognized twice by the New York Arts Ensemble as a “composer of great promise,” and has co-composed and recorded acclaimed CD albums. Aubree is an active chamber musician, recently collaborating with violinist Stefan Jackiw and distinguished Aspen Music Festival faculty in Harris Hall, performing Bach’s Double Violin Concerto with Curtis Institute faculty member Joseph Silverstein in 2013, and participating in the Finckel/Wu Han Chamber Studio in Aspen. She loves sharing her music with others and says “It doesn’t matter who my audience is; children, classically trained adults, people hearing the name “Brahms” for the first time, retirement community residents, [or] military veterans…all of it is thrilling.”
Aubree is a former student of Eugene Watanabe, Debbie Moench, and Danielle Belen, and currently studies with Jascha Heifetz Distinguished Chair Robert Lipsett at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. Aubree plays on a Camillus Camilli violin dated 1742 on generous loan from The Mandell Collection of Southern California.
