Open to the public for the first time !
We are excited to invite the public to view our annual Young Artist Competition contestants perform their prepared pieces, with piano accompaniment, in front of a panel of judges. This is a great opportunity to hear these talented young artists perform at their very best!  The Competition was first held in 1986, and since 2024 we have hosted both a Junior Division and an Open Division. The winners will perform with the full Orchestra at concerts in 2025.

The Competition will be held in the beautiful Barrett Hall of the Pasadena Conservatory of Music:

Saturday, January 25, 2025
Junior Competition:    9:00am – 1200noon
Open Competition:     12:30 – 430pm

Please note that this is not a concert or recital. It’s a different kind of experience.  You listen to several talented artists, and you an decide which you think is best!  Check back a week or so after the Competition to see the announcement of winners.

Important: There are a few simple rules that the audience must follow. Young children are not allowed in the hall, and the audience must remain very quiet at all times, so as not to distract the performers or the judges.  No applause!  You will be free to enter or leave only in the short breaks between performers, as directed by an usher.

The Orchestra’s season continues on these dates:

• March 14, 2025, 8:00pm; Pre-Concert discussion at 7:15pm – featuring the Junior Division Winner
• May 9, 2025, 8:00pm; Pre-Concert discussion at 7:15pm – featuring the Open Division Winner
• June 7, 2025, 6:30pm, Concert in the Park
