Announcing our Young Artist Competition winners!

Jan 27, 2025

We are excited to announce the winners of the 2024-25 Young Artist Competition.  Congratulations to our two winners:

  • Junior Division: violinist Minji Choi who wins a $500 cash prize and will perform with the Orchestra at our March 14 concert. She will perform the first movement of the Sibelius violin concerto.
  • Open Division: pianist Romain Jansen who wins a $1,000 cash prize and will perform with the Orchestra at our May 9 Concert. He will perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3.

The competition took place at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music on January 24.  The Competition judges were truly impressed at the sheer talent of all these young performers from our community; hard to select just one winner in each category!

About the Competition: Since 1986, the Pasadena Community Orchestra has offered solo performance opportunities for young instrumental artists each year through our Young Artist Competition. We plan to continue this tradition with the 2025-2026 Young Artist Competition, which will open for new applications the fall of 2025. Stay tuned!
