Julia Perry         A Short Piece for Orchestra
Concerto performance by Young Artist Competition Winner (Junior Division)
Antonin Dvorak      Symphony No. 8

Julia Perry (1924-1979) pictured above, was a American classical composer and teacher who combined European classical and neo-classical training with her African-American heritage. Trained at the Juilliard School, her compositions include three operas, 14 choral works, 12 symphonies, many vocal works, and several chamber works for eclectic instrumental combinations.

We’d like to know our audience better!  How do you learn about PCO concerts, did you travel far, what did you enjoy, and how can we improve?  At each concert, look for a QR code that takes you to a quick 5-minute survey.  We’ll enter you in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate.  We hope to hear from you!

The season continues on these dates:

  • May 9, 2025, 8:00pm; Pre-Concert discussion at 7:15pm
  • June 7, 2025, 6:30pm, Concert in the Park

Video recordings of works from many of our past concerts are available on our YouTube channel.
